Projects to keep me happy!

So, here's what I'll be working on this month! I have, like most knitters, accumulated a lot. A lot of yarn, a lot of needles of every type, a lot of books and patterns and A LOT of UFO's! (un-finished projects for you non-knitters!)

I've decided to allow myself 1 or at least 1/2 of a square from my Great American Aran Afghan project in between other UFO's that I need to finish. Here's what I've done so far.

In March, I really need to be able to pick up Meag's lacy sweater so that I can finish it for summer weather. I cannot work on it till the scarves and socks and such are done.

So here's my list in no particular order.

UFO's
Malabrio scarf for someone sweet (need by January 24)

Cashmere scarf for my favorite daughter

On-Hold Socks for Meag - from Socks from the Toe Up by Wendy D. Johnson

Socks for Dear Hubby - Two at a time - from the toe up - what was I thinking?????

Mystery wrap - scrumptious mystery yarn from Laurie - Directions, sit, cast on 100 (size 19), knit, BO, enjoy! There are 4-5 yarns in this hank so it will be quite fun seeing what it makes!

Day 5 (PM) Long, productive day

Well, today was another success! I am already feeling tired though so I thought I'd blog a little early and turn off this over worked laptop.

Today, I finished the dress for Lily. I am sitting here looking at it and cannot wait to see it on her. Cindy is such an earth-crunchy friend and the color and fabric are so fitting for her daughter. I can't believe that I've waited so long to finish this! It's so cute, it almost makes me want to have more babies, just to knit them cute little clothes! But alas, those days are dead and gone.

So I made up my mind today to get more organized in the knitting. I decided to take pictures of projects and of yarn in my stash and log it on Ravelry. I also made up my mind that I must put off getting back on track with Nanny's sweater. This was such a wonderful gift from Nanny and I owe it to her to get it finished and wear it in her honor.

So, after many hours of cleaning my office/stash, I took the plunge and ripped out both sleeves! I had screwed them up long ago and want this to be perfect. I have successfully ripped them out and re-wound the skeins. Amazingly, I do not feel the guilt, loss or regret I thought I would be wrought with! I instead, feel light a weight has been lifted. I feel empowered! I feel strong. I love that.

Lesson: Sometimes we must face our emotions head on. Facing them with honesty and courage can open up new doors! We can only see what we're made of when we trust ourselves to reach our own expectations!

Anyway, tonight, I've casted on both sleeves on one circular needle and am back in business. I should set a goal for myself as to a finish date, but I think I will just enjoy the process!

Day 2 (AM)

So, today I must accomplish several things. First of all, I joined two on-line knitting groups yesterday which I'm pretty excited about. The first is a St. Patty's Day Swap 2010 group. I will be given a "secret leprechaun" for whom I will make something Irish-y. I will also shower that person with things that they love and they will receive a package from a total stranger! I can't wait to get started on that as I've picked out something I think will be fabulous for them! I also have to find a gorgeous skein of green yarn to send them. I love to buy yarn and apparently, it doesn't have to be for me! Good to know!

The second group I joined is a Two for One WIP group. For every one new project I want to start, I must first finish two that have been left unfinished! This is great for me as I have so many UFOs (Un Finished Objects) around here. I have always been a starter, not a finisher so this should help me with that. The planning will be difficult as I have lots of things I want to start too! I have to be disciplined which may take the fun out of knitting for me, but we'll see. I am a work in progress!

I will sit for at least one hour uninterrupted today, and knit. Here's what's on the agenda: Finish weaving in the ends and sew on 5 buttons on Meag's purple hoodie vest. I finished knitting it up at least 5 weeks ago.

Hem Lily's baby dress and sew on the buttons. If I can get this done, I could even mail it to Cindy before the week is out.

I will count my new project as the neck warmer I started on the day after Christmas....and no, I will not rip it back to get rid of those 3 extra stitches I found at 12:30 this morning!
